Pressing Pause

Hi all

I have decided to take a break from blogging.  This is mainly because I am not sure it has really been acheiving what I set out to do.  I have little confidence as to whether the target audience I had in mind is really being reached, and the discussion I had hoped to spark hasn’t really happened.  Also, I would hate to think that there may be people who feel they need to read my blog out of loyalty to me … most people are far too busy to have to add my blog to their list!!

I have enjoyed the opportunity to write down my thoughts because writing is something I enjoy doing, and I do hope that some of what I have written has been of interest or help to readers “out there”.

So, thanks for reading, thanks for listening, and thanks for your comments and encouragement.

Who knows, I may well change my mind (after all – I am a woman!!), or from time to time write something as the urge arises.

See you.

  1. I do hope it’s PAUSE and not STOP. It takes time to build a readership, even longer for comments to flow……an age for discussion to happen.
I have loved having these little insights into your world and will miss them, and the greater understanding that has come as a result.
I would love for you to keep writing, for this blog to sit in cyberspace like a book on the shelf at the library, for people to peek into and find what they’re looking for. You’ve certainly got stuff to offer.
Go on – change your mind;-)

  2. If you are pausing b/c of changed priorities or to spend more time w family more power to you. It is good to be able to be introspective enough to prune our lives, even if we have to prune away good things to make room for the BEST.

If it is because you don’t think this blog is making a difference then I felt compelled to share this verse w you…
Galatians 6:9–Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.

You never know who is reading and how it is affecting them. lots of people read and don’t comment (like me). parents of special needs children especially may not have emotional energy enough to comment, but you may still be reaching them.
Ecclesiastes 11 makes me feel better when I wonder if my work does any good…

    4 Whoever watches the wind will not plant;
whoever looks at the clouds will not reap.

5 As you do not know the path of the wind,
or how the body is formed in a mother’s womb, so you cannot understand the work of God, the Maker of all things.

6 Sow your seed in the morning,
and at evening let not your hands be idle,
for you do not know which will succeed,
    whether this or that,
or whether both will do equally well.

Hope you don’t feel preached-at… just sharing what IMMEDIATELY popped into my head when I read your post. It made me want to reach out and encourage you.

  3. I have just found your blog. I am the mom of a severely disabled child due to stroke. Where are you? I am from Canada…you sound UK??? (based on certain expressions, but correct me if I am wrong). Are you going to come back? I was thinking of doing my own blog and was not certain how to go about it! Your page is very sophisticated. I identify so much with so many of your experiences…except that my gal can never go into respite because no is trained to deal with her…lest they drug her senseless. Hope to read from you sometime again.

    • Hi
A long, long time in replying. Sorry. Suddenly felt the urge to blog tonite. Not sure how spasmotic i will be tho!! I am from NZ. It was exactly people like you that I was longing to hear from, but never seemed to. So, thank you so much for commenting. Sorry about your lack of respite. If you read my latest post, you will see exactly where I am coming from. I know we are fortunate compared to many others, and we still struggle to cope! If you are thinking of doing a blog, just go to http://www.wordpress.com or blogspot for some ideas/tips. Thanks again…
